Horizon Services Group, CSX Lines Pioneer Implementation of “Zero-Second” Bookings for Ocean Shipments.

Horizon Introduces Revolutionary Auto-Book Solution; 70% of CSX Lines’ Bookings Now Received Electronically

Dallas, TX, Dec. 5, 2002 - Horizon Services Group, a leading logistics management technology company, today announced the implementation of the Auto-Book™ web tool, enabling shippers to make “zero-second” bookings with CSX Lines, the leading U.S. Jones Act ocean carrier.

The newest solution from Horizon puts control of a customer’s freight where it should be - with the shipper. Auto-Book, part of the NetCaptain® suite of logistics management web applications, allows users to set an online schedule for automatically submitting bookings to CSX Lines. Shippers receive automatic confirmations with booking numbers and a summary of containers booked. They can make changes to their bookings anytime prior to containers being received, at the terminal or customer location.

Auto-Book makes the often mundane task of preparing repetitive bookings a thing of the past for ocean shippers.

“The Horizon system is very user-friendly. The booking application makes submitting my bookings really easy and I am able to look up a booking or container at any time,” said Margie Aldana, logistics manager for Del Monte, the produce company.

Said Mauricio Galindo, transportation lead, Eagle Global Logistics, “Horizon Online Booking is the greatest, easiest tool ever designed for my job. It saves me a lot of time. I have full trust in the system.”

Operating statistics gathered form a survey of Horizon’s users clearly document Horizon’s pioneering effort in implementing E-Business solutions for ocean shipping.

  • 53% of Fortune 100 non-financial companies are registered users of Horizon applications.
  • 70% of all CSX Lines bookings are now received electronically, leading the industry
  • Horizon users manage virtually the entire ocean shipping process online, even receive customized reports covering monthly and yearly volumes; contractual volumes; and third-party reports to truckers, vendors and other partners.

While other online ocean shipping applications and service providers have stumbled, Horizon has driven innovation into CSX Lines operations by introducing intuitive, user-friendly web-based applications to a wide base of users - from the largest to the smallest shipping and logistics companies.
